Chip Turner Memorial Scholarship

Chip was a very special person who knew how to keep a smile on his face and YOURS too. It was easy to fall in love with Chip and the Chip Turner Memorial Scholarship is an easy way to keep his memory alive. Everyday we think of Chip and carry his spirit with us but we save up for one special event each year, Chippy T's Redneck Olympics, that is scheduled the weekend before Labor Day.Chip would have loved this event and would have been right in the middle of everyone playing/dancing his little heart away. The money raised from the event goes to the Chip Turner Memorial Scholarship for a Cartersville High School baseball player who demonstrates the best attitude-- a reward Chip received his senior year. It is now called the Chip Turner Attitude Award. The recipient receives a $500 scholarship as long as they maintain a 3.0 GPA. As we all know this money can be extremely beneficial throughout college! I'd like to think Chip is smiling down on all of you who do your best to keep his memory alive and is celebrating with Jesus!! Never forget that Chip's our angel!

RONNY AND TAYLOR HIGHTOWER SHARE A MOMENT
One of Chip's best friends wrote this poem about him...it really captures Chip....and mentions his love of baseball.  All the kids knew what it meant to him.

For Chip

The sod has just been laid.
No one ever wanted this day.

The Lord saved him from the tragic fall,
Now he is above us all.

He lived…he laughed…he loved.
And now he rests up above.

A friend to all,
He made every one stand so tall.

Never seen without a smile,
It went on for a mile.

He always greeted you with love,
Topped off with a hug.

We watched him as he grew,
Into the man we all knew.

He never had to know the blues,
Just lived with the rhythm.

He was a proud man.
Of his town,
Of his family,
Of his team,
Of his colors,
Of his friends,
Of himself.

Those who did not know him are sorely lacking.
All the rest are forever blessed.

For we knew a kind soul,
With a heart of gold.

He wore 17 on his back,
And we will forever wear it in our hearts.

Chip never gave up,
Never quit,
He just believed.

Chip may have left this Earth,
But he will never be gone.

Chip will forever live on
In our hearts
In our hopes
In our dreams
He will hold us together at the seams.

There is only one Chip Turner.
The one and only, true believer.
