2010 Cartersville Hurricane  Baseball Gate Duty

Parents:

Welcome to Cartersville Hurricane  baseball.  We are looking forward to a great season.   We, as parents, have several responsibilities to take on that will make this 2010 year run smoothly and efficiently.  It will take us all working together as a group – Freshman, JV, and Varsity - to pull off the responsibilities at hand.  So, just to give everyone a heads-up, here are a few of the things we will be doing during the season:

Concession Stand Duty – You will be asked to work when your child is NOT playing.  That way, you won’t miss any of your sons action.  One parent is required to work from each family.  The Dugout club has the concessions for all activities at Richard Bell Field. We have concessions for Tee Ball season, which is Monday thru Thursday and ends in the latter part of June. We usually work the Jr League and Sr League tournaments. We will also work the Southern Regional Tournament in August. The only activity we don't work and is not part of the program, is the girls softball for CHS. They do their own concessions.
The Tee ball games require only one person, which will be Alexias or Claire. The Southern Regional's will be worked by Alexias and Claire.

Gate Duty – Every family will have a day where they will man the gate to take up gate receipts. The Dugout Club is responsible for the collection of admission for only the JV and Freshman teams. The Varsity games are collected by CHS administrators.  One parent from the family arrives an hour ahead of time and stays at the gate until the game begins.  Normally, the money bag and tickets are housed in the concession stand.  If that changes, we will let you know.  You might want to bring a chair to sit in while working. All gate admission is $4 per person. 3 years and under are free. Eye of the Hurricane members with 2009-2010 dated cards are free, any Senior Citizens with school passes from the Board of Education for this year are free and School  employees with their badge are admitted free.

Away Game Post-game Meals – The kids are very hungry once they play an away game and get back on the bus.  Families will be scheduled for away game meals. You can do a deli size sandwich or 2 regular sandwiches per player.  (Suggestions are: 1 PBJ and 1 ham or 1 PBJ and 1 turkey.  Cheese is optional.)  Please send packs of mayo & mustard for their choosing.  The large variety bag of chips works best.  Dessert can be Little Debbie’s or cookies/brownies that have been split and put into Ziploc bags.  They will need a cooler of drinks which can consist of Gatorade bottles or water bottles.  Have these items at the bus after the game.  The players will choose what they want as they get on the bus. This schedule will be sent out soon, too. ***** Don’t forget to send a snack with your son for the away game bus ride.  It’s a long way sometimes and they do get hungry and thirsty before the game.

Post Season Responsibilities – Once our season is over our parents will still be responsible for working during the Varsity playoffs.  We are letting you know now so that it isn’t a surprise to everyone at the end of the season.  Everyone will work the concession stand and the gate at sometime during the playoffs. More information will come on this as our season comes to a close.

Freshman and JV players – If you are a freshman playing on JV, your duties will be covered on the JV schedule and not the freshman schedule.  If you are a JV player playing on the Varsity team, your duties will be covered on the Varsity schedule and not the JV schedule.  That way all players from freshman to Varsity will be covered on the gate and meal schedules and will not overlap.

This is a lot of information to take in but we wanted everyone to know well in advance what is expected of us during the season.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please give one of us a call.  If, once you receive the schedules, you find that you cannot work the concession stand or gate duty or cannot provide the away game meal on your assigned day, please trade with someone on the list.  If you do trade, please e-mail us so that we can change our schedules to reflect this and won’t be contacting you with a reminder on the wrong day.  Thanks, in advance, for all that you are going to do for our team this season. GO CANES!!!!
